This morning I woke up to some very good news.. it appears, I have won a 1st place on ISPWP (The International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers) contest under “Humor” category. A photo from Paul and Becky’s wedding was recognised. A few months ago I was very happy to join ISPWP and therefore the best award-winning wedding photographers in the world, now I am even happier to have won a contest within this organisation! The competition was quite tough as there were loads of truly great photos submitted. See for yourselves.

Proud to become a member of ISPWP

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

There are not many photographer’s associations out there worth joining, as most of them requires only a cheque to be received once a year and that’s about it – the value of such associations is close to nothing. However, there are a few organisations worldwide where only the finest photography is accepted! One of them is ISPWP - The International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers and I am very proud to have just been approved as a member by ISPWP among the best wedding photographers in the world!

From ISPWP website:

“The International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP) is a rarity among wedding photography organisations. Photographers cannot simply buy an ISPWP membership, they have to earn it.
Our requirements are experience, talent, and professionalism. To be accepted, a photographer must have shot at least 50 weddings, submit their portfolio for review, agree to operate under the ISPWP Code of Conduct, and have an ISPWP Sponsor or four references. And THEN they have to be voted in by current members.
In short, when you hire an ISPWP Photographer, you are hiring a talented veteran with a track record, peer recognition, and a passion for creating heirloom images of your wedding.”

“…We’re picky. Most online wedding photography directories are simply glorified yellow pages that anyone can join if they simply pay the fee. Experienced pros could be listed alongside someone who just bought their first camera, took a few pictures at their cousin’s wedding, and put up a website. The ISPWP is an exclusive organisation of truly experienced professionals for discerning clientele. Our requirements in the areas of experience, talent, integrity, and professionalism set us apart. We will never compromise our standards just to get more members. If that means we remain small and exclusive, so be it.”

I’m thrilled to be a member of a society which has some of the best wedding photographers from all around the world as members. Click HERE to go to ISPWP and see for yourself!

Some nice words

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

It is always such a pleasure to receive appreciation from my lovely clients. This one just came in from Lucy and Peter – I did their wedding photography a few months back and it was the first for me this year! Here’s the blog post from Lucy and Peter’s wedding.

After looking at hundreds of photographers out there and searching for the right one for our wedding, we stopped searching when we found Martins.  Peter and I, are both camera shy so Martins natural style suited us perfectly. His ability to stay in the background and yet capture the essence of the moment is absolutely brilliant!  We both have large families so we knew it would be a challenge for the photographer to get them all in the photos.  However, on the day, Martins just coped magnificently.  He also adapted very well from the change in locations and he captured all the little details that many people would’ve missed!  The resulting photos were simply breathtaking. The online gallery was up and running within weeks and we’ve had so many people compliment how beautiful the photos turned out.

Having Martins as our photographer for our wedding was a joy.  We would highly recommend Martins to other bride and grooms as his photos are perfect and will be bringing back special memories for years to come.

Martins is a fantastic photographer.  We wish him all the best in the future in his career doing what he does best…

Lucy & Peter

Thank you guys for having me as your wedding photographer and have all the luck and happiness together! :)

Wedding Testimonial

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

It’s one of those great moments in wedding photography, to receive a superb testimonial from a happy client. Here’s a copy of e-mail I received a few days ago from Emma & Phil..

It’s difficult to put into words what a fantastic experience we’ve had with Martins. We spent hours looking through hundreds of websites trying to find a photographer that would suit our requirements. Neither of us is keen on ‘posey’ photos, but we still wanted someone to capture the emotion of our day. As soon as we came across Martins site we immediately stopped our search, without a doubt his photos are the most stunning we’ve seen and so creative too.

As for the actually wedding day, its difficult to remember seeing Martins as he blended so well into the background, yet still managed to achieve the most amazing photos of all of us, and our guests.

Our photos were presented in a beautiful gallery, with music selected by us, on Martins website for all our guests to see. We’ve had so many comments from our guests about the quality of the photos and the ability Martins has to capture such natural shots. Our album, designed by Martins is just stunning and he was happy to make any amendments for us without any hesitation.

We really can’t recommend Martins enough, he’s a true professional and it’s been a real pleasure to have worked with him!

2nd place on AG|WPJA contest

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

I have great news to share! Less then a month after I have been accepted as a member of Artistic Guild of Wedding Photojournalist Association (AG|WPJA) my photo has been selected among thousands as 2nd place winner in AG|WPJA contest! I was very much looking forward to this moment as this is one of the most prestige international contests for wedding photographers worldwide! The competition was very stiff and there were lot’s of great photos submitted from world’s best wedding photojournalists, which is why I am even more proud to see my photo among winners!

Here’s the Judges Comment: “This was a great job by the photographer who turned around and looked at what was happening behind him/her. The crowd of onlookers all trying to get a picture is a great moment. The expressions are terrific, especially the man with the camera in the lower left. This is a really fun photograph, toned well.”

I took this photo few months ago on Alan & Ruth’s wedding and it was a great fun! The category of my winning photo is “ceremony” – Images that capture guests and participants throughout pre-ceremony, vow-exchange, and receiving line activity. Here’s a link to results of the photo-contest.

A Proud Member of AG|WPJA

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

There are lot’s of different organisations, guilds and associations for photographers around, but only very few of them I truly respect. One of those is AGWPJA – Artistic Guild of Wedding Photojournalist Association. Main reason for that can be found in WPJA website: “Membership in the WPJA depends entirely on photographers meeting our high standards for inclusion. One CANNOT simply pay his/her way into the WPJA. We emphasise this is NOT another ad-driven wedding web site.” WPJA is an exclusive society of the most talented professionals in the industry! A few weeks ago I submitted my portfolio to WPJA…

…and today I am happy to announce that I am now a proud member of the Artistic Guild of Wedding Photojournalist Association (AG|WPJA)! I’m very honoured to be part of a community which has some of the worlds most talented and inspirational wedding photographers as members.

To understand what is AG|WPJA and what they stand for, here’s some info from their web-site: “The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association is a distinct division within the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). The AG|WPJA focuses strictly on the artistic and “fine art” aspects of wedding photojournalism. AG|WPJA members are international wedding photojournalists, who excel both in creating outstanding images through a documentary approach, and in the art of post-production processing of wedding photographs. In a nutshell, AG|WPJA photographers take great candid pictures, enhance them using the technology available, and deliver museum-quality images from your wedding day.”

I am very proud to be part of such organisation!
