Late last year after all of the many wedding galleries were finished, I felt like I’ve deserved a break, so I was looking for something close to me and also beautiful to spend a few days, just to get my batteries charged! I remembered people telling me good things about North Wales, so I thought I’ll give it a try.
After a very long drive through the beautiful Welsh countryside and seeing what seemed like a few millions of sheep (I was told later by a welshman, there is three sheep for every human being living in Wales.. quite a lot then..? :) ) we then finally reached the Conway mountain which is located in Snowdonia national park – truly an amazing place.. Conway mountain is definitely one of the most beautiful mountains for walking..and taking pictures of course.. The views from this mountain are magnificent with its panoramic views inland and over the coast and estuary. Sadly we didn’t get to the very top of the hill, as the wind was unbelievably strong, so we were not allowed there. Anyway, I really enjoyed North Wales and here’s some of what I brought home from there..

These mountains might look quite ordinary, while in fact they are very special, because..they create electricity for Wales! :) The place is called “Dinorwig Power Station” and what you can find inside (yes, inside!) the mountain is 16 km of tunnels, 1 million tons of concrete, 200,000 tons of cement and 4,500 tons of steel. We were in there and yes, it was quite impressive to see it all.. Here’s some more information from Wiki..

Hopefully after seeing this you will be willing to pack your bags and get to North Wales ASAP! :) If so, you might need a place to stay. On our visit to Wales, we stayed at “Bryn Melyn Guest House” – an amazing place, fantastic views and great hospitality from owners. Located in Barmouth, so if you are visiting North Wales – give it a try! And say Hi to the owners from me! ;)
