I am so excited to be sharing with you the wedding of Joel and Christina, firstly, because they are such an amazing couple, and secondly, because of their choice of venues – their wedding took place in Westminster Chapel, London and the wedding reception was held in Houses of Parliament (!!!) Countless times I have done wedding or engagement shoots in Westminster, next to river Thames with Parliament buildings in the background and wondering how Westminster looks the other way around. This was my chance to experience that and see London actually from Houses of Parliament, not the usual other way around. Just check the night photos at the end of the blog post, taken in the courtyard of Parliament using only available light from some street lamps and the neon-lit London Eye in the background. Must be one of my favourite photos ever.
I started the photography with preparations of Christina, after which we headed to Westminster Chapel for the wedding ceremony. Westminster Chapel is such a grand place, with balconies over two floors, which allowed for some amazing photos of the ceremony and wedding guests. We then went to do a few photos at the streets of Wesminster and a forecourt of ’51 Buckingham Gate’ – a nearby five star hotel.
But the highlight of the day for me was when we headed to Houses of Parliament, through some serious security checks, full body X-rays and countless doors and rooms till we ended up in the House of Commons’ riverside tea terrace right on river Thames, where the wedding continued in more relaxed way, with live band, lot’s of fun and dancing. Well, It’s just one of those special weddings. Here’s the photos.. Enjoy! :)
